DESCRIPTION:The club walk in September to Beinn Breac was a great success with good weather after a very wet and windy couple of days beforehand\,  with 33 members out in total\,  18 people climbed Beinn Breac.  Eight 8 members did the slightly shorter walk up to the corbet Cairn na Drochaide\, and 7 members completed another shorter walk of the Fairy Glen. Great views were seen off Beinn Breac of both Glen Lui where we walked in and Glen Quoich where we walked out to finish. \nViews off the top of Cairn na Drochaide also good however cloud present. \nBoth the two main walks were well over 6 hours\, and confirmation of a great day out was had with a few drinks after in the Invercauld. \n\n\n\n\n 	\n\n        \n\n            \n        \n\n         \n\n\n        \n\n            \n        \n\n         \n\n\n        \n\n            \n        \n\n         \n\n\n        \n\n            \n        \n\n         \n\n\n        \n\n            \n        \n\n         \n\n\n        \n\n            \n        \n\n         \n\n\n\n		\n	\n        [Show thumbnails]

DESCRIPTION:The route for the June walk was changed when the Friday forecast showed very high winds on the Cairngorm Plateau. So rather than Bynack More and Cairn Gorm the group of 24 walkers set off from Glenmore to Nethy Bridge via the Ryvoan Pass. One group included the Corbett Meall a’ Bhuachaille in their route to test the wind speed and found the forecast to be fairly accurate. Fortunately the heavy rain and low cloud which greeted us on arrival in Glenmore had passed before the top was reached and there were fine views from the summit cairn. Both routes joined at the Ryvoan Bothy and continued on very pleasant tracks through the Abernethy Forest. At this lower level there was little wind and by lunch time is was warm and sunny. A relaxing refreshment break in the sun outside the Nethybridge Hotel completed a very acceptable alternative walk. SUMMARY:Coastal Walk: Gardenstown to Troup Head Blog
DESCRIPTION:The coastal walk was much in demand and a larger coach was arranged for the day. An issue with the coach in Banff almost scuppered the planned outing. Fortunately the driver was able to quickly restore the vehicle to operation (with the assistance of the engineers in the club) and we were back on schedule. \nThree walking groups set off from Cottage Farm and after a short visit to the ruins of St John’s Church descended to the beach by a muddy and very slippery path (fortunately no injuries). Then it was a brisk walk across the sandy beach to Gardenstown harbour and onwards by the path below the cliffs to Crovie. The benches by Crovie jetty provided a comfortable snack stop before the “big climb” of the day to Crovie Head. \nThe walkers on the shorter route continued on farm roads to Northfield while the majority continued eastwards along the cliff top. Vertigo and gorse persuaded both groups to cross to the inside of the fence. The walk leaders were well prepared and pipe insulation magically appeared from rucksacks to simplify the crossing of the barbed wire. \nTroup Head was quickly reached where the winter sun highlighted the gannets and fulmars gliding below.
